Family Nurse Practitioner

Nicki Gatton, NP

Nicki Gatton is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC).

Nicki Gatton is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC). She graduated in 1997 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of NC – Charlotte. She then obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of NC – Chapel Hill in 2007 and FNP certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Nicki specializes in obesity medicine, hormone replacement, functional medicine, and anti-aging/longevity. Prior to becoming an NP, Nicki worked in the Emergency Department and Critical Care, including pediatric, trauma/ surgical, and neuro ICU’s.

Throughout her earlier practice, as well as because of personal experience with traditional medicine, Nicki became very frustrated with a lack of answers to her questions about various symptoms she was personally experiencing, and how they might be related. Despite her years of experience as a healthcare professional, she felt discounted and ignored by her own medical providers; traditional medicine wanted to treat symptoms, but she wanted to know the root cause and then be offered treatment options from a more holistic perspective. She was communicating – loudly – but no one was hearing. As frustrating as that time period was for her, however, it ignited a passion and a deep desire to prevent her own patients from having the experiences that she did and motivated her to branch into her current functional medicine, solution-based approach to health and wellness.

Nicki was born and raised in Statesville, NC, but has lived throughout the country as well as in Europe before settling in Tega Cay, SC, where she currently resides with her husband, three children (when they are home from both college and “adulting”), three dogs, six (and counting) cats, and her two fish, Elton (John) and George (Michael).

When not in the clinic or seeing patients, Nicki enjoys cooking traditional Southern meals, puttering with and propagating her vast assortment of plants, working on far too many DIY projects that will undoubtedly outlive her, and singing karaoke.

Stories From Our Patients

“Even the little things—like how they followed up after the procedure—made me feel taken care of. It’s rare to see that level of detail.”
